The Mercury Racing HP525 EFI is world renowned for its performance on and off the race course. The engine package is the power behind numerous offshore world championships.

Reliability, durability and overall performance are the reasons that offshore racers choose the 525 EFI as their power of choice. This race-proven consumer engine is a favorite among recreation sport boaters and poker runners as well.

Enhancements include the PCM microprocessor, universal engine mounts, increased engine oil flow and a larger volume and higher flow power steering system. Changes in the power steering system provide OEM boat builders with the option to rig two power steering pumps (dual engines) in series. Engine protection is enhanced thanks to increased engine oil flow through the filter and cooler.

Engine drive packages include Bravo One XR, Bravo One XR Sport Master, Bravo Three XR and dry-sump Six drive. The optional Integrated Transom System (ITS) provides hydraulic steering on the drive while making the transom more aesthetically pleasing and simplifying installation.

Mercury 565 Sterndrive - The naturally aspirated engine combines the proven performance of big block power with the creature comforts of digital throttle and shift.

The 565 is based off the same CNC machined cylinder block as its race-proven sibling, the 525 EFI. Mercury Racing's quest for more power and torque began by increasing the stroke for an additional 31 cubic inches of displacement to 533-C.I.D. (8.7 L). The larger displacement combined with redesigned cylinder heads, multiport fuel injection and twin electronic throttle bodies results in a whopping 565 horsepower at the 5000-5400 rpm operating range. All of this power comes from 89 posted octane (R+M)/2 pump gas. The 565 complies with EPA and CARB exhaust gas emissions limits.

Digital Age
The 565 features the same Propulsion Control Module (PCM) microprocessor used on the QC4v 1100 and 1350. In addition to digital throttle control, the new PCM enables the use of eight individual coils (one per cylinder). The ability to optimize fuel, spark timing and knock control independently for each cylinder enhances engine running quality, performance, fuel economy, and durability.

The PCM computer also drives Mercury Racing's exclusive Engine Guardian System. Engine Guardian monitors engine functions to forewarn of possible problems that could lead to engine damage. This "smart" technology not only detects and alerts the boater of a problem; it also processes the data and reduces power to a maximum, safe level that allows the boater to continue operation. Engine Guardian also has the ability to proactively help prevent engine overheating by sensing not only engine temperature, but cooling water pressure as well. By sensing water pressure, and temperature, the system can provide advanced warning to the PCM control module, which then reduces engine power before temperature related engine damage takes place.

The PCM enabled system also features one-touch Smart Start, automatic throttle synchronization and shadow mode for triple engine applications (where two throttle levers can operate up to three engines).

Unique to the 565 is the addition of a second microprocessor. TheTransmission Control Module (TCM) is dedicated to provide smooth, effortless shifting to the Bravo One XR drive train. Mercury Racing's Zero Effort Digital control provides an intuitive control experience – precisely signaling driver intent to the potent 565 engines.

The 565 is closed cooled for more uniform temperature distribution, optimal running quality and longer life. It comes equipped with a 90 amp charging system, providing an ample supply of power for an array of marine electronics.

Carbon Birthmark:
The 565 features a carbon fiber top cover, a styling birthmark it gets from its QC4v 1100 and 1350 siblings. The cover not only looks good – it also protects the engine electronics from moisture and other potential hazards.

Color Options:
A total of 11 color options, including the standard Raven Black with Mercury Racing Blue Metallic valve covers and heat exchanger, are available to fit virtually any style or theme.

Drives:
The 565 is available with Bravo One XR and Bravo One XR Sport Master (standard and short) drive options with 1.35:1 or 1.50:1 gear ratios. The Mercury Racing Integrated Transom System (ITS) is also available.

Mercury 600 SCi Sterndrive - The 600 SCi was the first Mercury Racing sterndrive engine package certified for sale in the European Union (EU). The popular engine, packed with Mercury Racing exclusive components, meets the emissions requirements as set forth in the EU Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) 94/25/EC amended by 2003/44/EC. The engine also meets requirements of the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 89/336/EC. The certification expands the availability of the 600 SCi sterndrive engine package to all countries that fall under the EU's RCD.

The 600 SCi engine continues Mercury Racing's heritage of producing engines packed with state-of-the-art technology that delight customers with outstanding performance.

The engine outperformed the larger displacement Ilmor MV10-625 in a recent Speedboat Magazine® shoot-out featuring identically rigged Outerlimits 39 Quatro vee-bottom hulls.

Mercury 662 SCi Sterndrives - The all-new EU662 SCi engine package, featuring Mercury Racing's revolutionary NXT¹® transmission and drive, was developed exclusively for sale to all countries that fall under the European Union Recreational Craft Directive(RCD).

The RCD consists of strict exhaust emissions and noise regulations for both two-stroke and four-stroke recreational marine engines. Regulations for compression ignition and four-stroke spark ignition engines were initiated on January 1, 2006. The 662 SCi is the highest horsepower marine sterndrive engine certified for sale in the EU.

It shares all of the game changing technology as its North American cousin - the 700 SCi. Engine packages come standard with the NXT¹® drive for both close-couple and drive-line installations.

The new NXT6 SSM drive, featuring the dry-sump Six drive coupled to the NXT¹® transom plate and the dry-sump NXT¹® transmission, is available for selected hulls that require the drives to be mounted higher on the transom for maximum efficiency and optimal boat performance.

Mercury 700 SCi Sterndrives - Mercury Racing has expanded the versatility of the popular 700 SCi sterndrive engine package with the availability of the all-new NXT6 Super Speed Master (SSM) drive.

The NXT6 SSM drive, designed for boats with natural bow lift using minimal trim, offers OEM boatbuilders and consumers the benefit of using the legendary dry-sump Six drive with the engine mounted in the same location as a Bravo drive set-up thanks to Mercury Racing's exclusive NXT¹® transmission design.

The compact size of the transmission enables builders to install the engine in the same location (fore and aft) asa standard Bravo in close couple applications.

The transmission design allows for use of a "driveline kit" for forward engine applications.

Like all Mercury Racing sterndrives,the 700 SCi comes equipped with the Mercury exclusive Propulsion Control Module (PCM) 07 microprocessor.

Combining the powerful engine management computer with a 3.3 Liter Lysholm screw-type supercharger, roller camshaft and sequential fuel injection results in impeccable idle quality, instant throttle response and unmatched performance throughout the 4800-5200 rpm rated engine operating range.

Mercury 1100 Racing Sterndrive - Based off the quad cam four valve (QC4v) engine platform, the 1,100 horsepower engine shares all of the creature comforts of its game changing sibling; the 1350.

Compared to the 1075 SCi, it has a little more power and a lot more torque. In fact – big torque and power runs in the family. The 1100 pumps out 1,100 lb-ft of torque from 2500 to 5250 rpm (more than the 1200 SCi!) – and delivers 1,100 horsepower at its 6,500 rpm red line. All of this power and torque comes from 89 posted octane (R+M)/2, (95 RON, global) pump gas. The 1075 SCi and competitive engines with like power ratings require a minimum 91 posted octane. Like the 1350, the 1100 complies with EPA and CARB exhaust gas emissions limits.

BIRTHMARKS

At first glance, one may not notice the subtle differences between the 1350 and the 1100. The most noticeable physical difference is the use of foam air intake filters in place of the carbon fiber turbo inlets that come standard on the 1350. Another styling/functional queue: A single throttle body and an adjacent idle balance tube replace the dual throttle bodies of a 1350. The throttle body, fuel regulator and intake runners, hidden behind a carbon fiber front cover on the 1350, are in full view on the 1100 – a technological birthmark of the younger QC4v sibling.

A carbon fiber top cover helps protect the electronics and provide a place for the Mercury Racing M logo, power decals and wiring reference (underside).

STYLE DRESS KIT

An optional accessory kit, featuring port and starboard carbon fiber turbo inlets and front cover, is available for those who prefer style over the look of technology. Owners have the option to customize the front cover with their boat builder logo.

GOOD GENES AND MANNERS

The 1100's fuel calibration is new due to configuration differences, but function is very similar. It shifts just as sweetly and throttles just as effortlessly as the 1350. Both engines feature an integrated, water-cooled twin turbo exhaust system. The digitally modulated boost control is employed to handle the engines' massive, flat torque line. And both are drive-by- wire. The 1100 and 1350 share the same electronically shifted transmission.

The 1100 comes standard with the dry-sump NXT1 SSM drive with gear ratios from 1.15.1 to 1.42:1. The M8 drive, standard on the 1350, is required when the application calls for 1.5:1 or 1.7: 1 gear ratios.

Mercury 60 EFI FormulaRace - Mercury Racing is pleased to announce the introduction of the all-new Mercury 60 EFI FormulaRace outboard. The 60 h.p. in-line four-cylinder engine expands Racing's breadth of low-emissions 4-strokes; an offspring of the venerable Verado 350 SCi outboard. Mercury Dry Sump NXT¹ Drive - Mercury Racing has just written a new chapter in the book of revolutionary marine propulsion with the development of the all new dry-sump NXT¹® drive. The drive is robust enough to handle engines between 525 and 700 horsepower with an input torque rating of 800 ft-lbs. The engine/transom plate/drive package is nearly 200 pounds lighter than a comparable engine outfitted with a standard size transmission and dry-sump Six drive. Both the drive and transmission feature dry-sump lubrication for higher efficiency and reduced operating temperatures.

The unique through-hull location of the compact transmission enables the transmission to be installed after the engine is first mounted. Access to the transmission from the transom also allows the transmission to be removed and serviced without having to pull the complete engine.

SPECIFICATIONS

Mercury Racing is pleased to announce the introduction of X-haust, a fully integrated sterndrive exhaust noise reduction system. X-haust was developed primarily to bring the HP600 SCi and EU662 SCi sterndrive engine packages, already certified by the European Union Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) requirements for exhaust emissions, in compliance with the stringent RCD noise regulations.

The EU RCD consists of strict exhaust emissions and noise regulations for both two-stroke and four-stroke recreational marine engines. Regulations for compression ignition and four-stroke spark ignition engines were initiated on Jan. 1, 2006. OEM (original equipment manufacturers) boat builders must certify that their boats conform to the RCD noise requirements. X-haust just made that much easier for boat builders doing business in the EU.

The X-haust Noise Reducer system recently passed the stringent EU RCD noise emission standard in a twin engine 662SCi equipped boat. The standard used for the exhaust noise test is ISO 14509. The test requires the boat to pass by the sound meter at a distance of 25 meters (82 feet). The boat must be traveling at least 70 kilometers per hour (43.5 mph) or maximum speed. To pass the test the average of the two highest results must not exceed 78 dB(A).

As a point of reference - the sound of water lapping the shore is 75-80 dBA.

PATENT-PENDING DESIGN

Mercury Racing employed predictive simulation in the X-haust design. This allowed the engineers to model characteristics of the engine and predict the pressure waves the engine creates through the exhaust system. After adopting a basic design idea, several iterations were applied until the muffler was perfectly sized and the required sound attenuation was achieved.

The patent-pending muffler design flows exhaust through two separate chambers connected by three attenuator tubes before exiting the exhaust outlet at the bottom. The result is a further reduction of sound pressure waves without sacrificing engine power or performance.

THE PROCESS

X-haust features a custom Y-Pipe which combines the two banks of exhaust from each engine into a single exhaust tube. The single tube exhaust outlet per engine provides the transom space needed for the transom mounted X-haust muffler. Back pressure is minimal, resulting in insignificant power loss.

An integrated idle relief tube routes some exhaust through the boat above the waterline, providing a necessary vacuum break and a little rumble when operating off plane.

The transom-mounted muffler is completely submerged when the boat is at rest. The muffler outlet directs engine exhaust down and back toward the transom further reducing noise.

Mercury Racing's 662 SCi is the only high-performance marine engine to meet both EU RCD exhaust emission and noise emission requirements for gasoline sterndrive engines. The 662 SCi is also the highest horsepower marine engine certified for sale in the EU.

X-haust is available in two configurations. Stage 1, designed to satisfy most noise regulations outside of the EU, eliminates the transom mounted mufflers. The exhaust outlet remains in the same location - underwater when off-plane and near the water surface when operating on-plane. Stage 2 is the complete system, with transom mounted mufflers, capable of compliance with the EU RCD.

X-haust is available for use with the HP600 SCi, fitted with an Integrated Transom System (ITS) Bravo One XR drive model or optional dry-sump NXT¹® drive, EU662 SCi and HP700 SCi sterndrive engine packages fitted with the dry-sump NXT¹® drive. Stage 1 and Stage 2 configurations are available for single or twin engine applications in both side-by-side and staggered installations.

Mercury Racing Zero Effort Controls feature a canted handle design that really fits the hand. Throttles have ball and spring detents which provide tactile feel and resist "creep." Shift levers provide a comfortable "throw" into and out of gear, giving sport boaters complete control of their boat. The shorter shift lever allows captains to know, by instinct, which function they command.

Mercury Racing builds the controls utilizing stainless steel for lever, mechanism and hardware strength. The housing material is corrosion-resistant, marine-grade aluminum specially coated for enhanced protection in the corrosive saltwater environment. All cable ends are non-galling stainless alloy.

Zero Effort Controls work with sterndrive, inboard and outboard powered boats. They feature Mercury Racing's pioneering stackable, modular design which enables the controls to be offered in one to six-lever configurations at reasonable prices. Throttles and shifters can be grouped separately or combined into a single unit.

Installation is easy, with the ability of making cable connections without disassembly of the control. Double-ended levers enable either push or pull cable operation. The direction in which both shift and throttle levers operate can be changed easily without special tools. Limit switches prevent engines from starting in-gear. Selected models of the controls are available with an integral power trim switch in the throttle lever. The ergonomically designed switch provides fingertip trim control of drives and K-Planes. Available in a lustrous white or black finish, Zero Effort Controls complement any sport boat interior.

DTS ZERO EFFORT CONTROLS

The SmartCraft Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) system technology brings precise throttle and shift response to race-proven Mercury Racing Zero Effort Controls. Available for selected DTS equipped Mercury outboards and MerCruiser sterndrives, the new DTS Zero Effort Controls offer unmatched smooth shifting and ultra-fast throttle response, as well as reliable performance. These effortless controls enhance docking maneuverability and overall safety thanks to processor-controlled shifting, neutral-only modes and emergency shift enhancements.

The Zero Effort Digital control by Mercury Racing provides an intuitive control experience – precisely signaling driver intent to engines equipped with SmartCraft Digital Throttle and Shift (DTS) technology.

Available in a variety of sizes for boats 21' and longer, the new K-Planes feature a stronger, corrosion resistant aluminum casting with larger support ribs for enhanced durability. Elastomer mounts on each end of the hydraulic trim ram dampen impact loads and eliminate free play. The mounts, which eliminate contact between the stainless steel pivot points and aluminum housings, reduce corrosion between dissimilar metals. Electrically bonded components and larger sacrificial anodes enhance corrosion resistance.

Double-acting hydraulic trim cylinders maintain position and react immediately to fingertip control from the helm. Heavy-duty hydraulic trim pumps are designed specifically for use with K-Planes in high performance boating. Selected models come equipped for adaptation of an electronic SmartCraft®compatible trim sender. The electronic sender enables boaters to view digital images of tab trim positions at a glance.

K-PLANES RECOMMENDATION CHART

Mercury Racing's new outboard rigging kit features a larger 2-1/2" size tube which accommodates multiple outboard rigging hardware including throttle/shift cables, electronics cables and fuel lines. The durable hose threads into one-piece couplers - providing a complete seal at both the engine and boat side.

The new kit fits all production 3.0 Liter V-6 EFI and OptiMax cowls as well as Racing 3.0L OptiMax cowls.

New Mercury Racing Quick-Change (QC) through transom exhaust tips, designed exclusively for Mercury Racing by Custom Marine, Inc., feature an easily removable anti-backflow valve. A screwdriver and box wrenches are all that is needed to remove and replace the internal valve assembly. The entire job can be done from outside of the boat in 10 minutes, without having to remove the entire exhaust tip body. The anti- backflow valve helps prevent water from entering the engine through exhaust pipes mounted through the boat transom.

Replacement parts for the entire exhaust tip assembly are readily available. The Mercury Racing QC exhaust tips are made of a tough 316L polished stainless steel material and are available with straight ends in 4" diameter. Custom 3½" diameter tips and 45-degree mitered ends are available from Custom Marine, Inc. at www.custommarine.com.

The new QC through transom exhaust tips, available as a high performance accessory from Mercury Racing, fit all Mercury Racing and Mercury MerCruiser consumer sterndrive engine packages.

As a result of increasing demand from the performance boating community, the innovative Mercury Racing Integrated Transom System (ITS) is now available as an accessory item for repower or upgrades. Available for Bravo One XR, Bravo One XR Sport Master and Bravo Three XR drives, the ITS fits any existing Bravo One transom (cut-out and bolt pattern).

First introduced in 2001 and previously available only on select Mercury Racing sterndrive engine packages, the ITS enhances drive height flexibility while making the transom more aesthetically pleasing and simplifying installation. The ITS features integral power steering cylinders as well as performance upgrades to Bravo One XR and Bravo Three XR drive housings.

The gimbal bracket assembly has been strengthened with addendum ears for the attachment of the integral steering cylinders. Trim and steering cylinders, multi-mounted to the gimbal ring, transfer stress loads back to transom, increasing strength and durability. A built-in, seven-inch setback improves boat running attitude in selected applications. Performance upgrades to the Bravo XR drives include a new upper drive housing cover and rear drive cap with built-in, tie-bar attachment. The new finned drive cover aids in drive cooling while the tie-bar attachment fixture, built into the new rear drive cap, eases installation of a tie-bar for multi-engine boats by eliminating the need to change drive caps. Multi-attaching points of the upper and rear drive caps enhances the strength and durability of the tie-bar attachment fixture as well.

The ITS is also as an option on the MerCruiser 496 HO and select Mercury Racing 525 EFI, 565, and 600 SCi sterndrive engine packages.
